Alex Smiles Ltd is an industry-leading waste recycling logistics company based in the North East of England. The company had outgrown its old website with the site’s image and status appearing outdated and inaccessible. They came to Modular requiring a wide-scale redesign.

One of the key issues was the original site’s use of Flash, which is completely incompatible with many mobile devices such as the iPhone/iPad. Many desktop users also block Flash due to online advertising often employing its technology. The company were therefore seeking a fresh, clean, modern design, built using purely HTML5 and Javascript that invited its users with a well-structured breadth of company information. They also required a number of advanced functionality including a client login system (allowing existing customers access to regulatory documents), a news blog and other CMS customisations that would allow them to easily update site content quickly and easily in-house.
